The DJI FPV drone is an amazing drone! It has long flight times, fantastic video, and is really fast.
However, the drone is fragile in a couple of areas that we’ll cover with our first two accessories.
Whether you’re looking to beef up your DJI FPV drone for some crashes, get some more flight time, or make your drone easier to use, let’s dive into the most useful accessories for DJI FPV!
Camera Bumper
The camera on the DJI FPV drone is really fragile, and really exposed and out in the open on the front of the drone.
When you crash your drone head-on to a tree or fence, you’re probably going to break your camera and have a really expensive fix!
This bumper protects the camera and is mounted directly to the frame of the drone so it can protect from even a really big crash. This is the most important accessory to get for the DJI FPV drone!
Arm Braces
Aside from the camera, the other weak point of the DJI FPV drone that you’ll probably break is one of the arms.
Unlike other FPV drones, these arms are made from plastic and snap really easily if you crash into something!
These arm braces are really strong and spread the crashing force out to both arms, making it twice as less likely to break an arm.
Tail Wing
Make your drone look super cool with this tail wing for the back of your drone!
Installation only takes a minute with some nice 3M adhesive, and especially paired with a red wrap, your drone will never look better!
The company claims that it helps your drone fly better, but from what we know here at Easydrone, spoilers and tail wings don’t help that much, and are only for looks.
ND Filters
Ever wonder how people get such good-looking shots with their drones? Most of the time, they’re using ND filters!
ND filters act basically as sunglasses for your drone, and block the light to slow your shutter speed down, and get some very unique video!
They’re particularly useful for bright sunny days to help your image from getting overexposed.
Extra Propellers
Propellers are one thing that you can never have enough of as a drone pilot. They’re probably the most fragile part of the drone, so if you crash expect to break one!
I currently have hundreds of propellers, and if I’m pushing my limits and flying super hard, I tend to break about four or five in an hour of flying.
These are the same DJI FPV propellers that came with your drone, so you can be sure that they will work perfectly.
Propeller Storage Case
The downside of having so many extra propellers is that they take up a lot of space, get tangled, and make your DJI FPV drone case or bag really messy!
This case is a really good solution to those issues, is easy to slip into your drone bag, and keeps your propellers nicely stacked and organized.
We’d recommend getting two sets of extra propellers and two propeller storage cases so that you can keep all your left-hand spinning props in one case, and your right-hand spinning props in the other!
Controller Lanyard
Getting a lanyard is one of the best purchases I’ve made for my FPV controller.
A controller lanyard takes the strain off your hands so you can fly more smoothly, and keeps your controller nice and secure around your neck so that your hands are free to change the battery on your drone and put your goggles on without having to set your controller down every time.
The DJI controller doesn’t come with a controller lanyard, so this nice leather one with a quick-release hook is a must-have DJI FPV drone accessory.
Game-Type Controller
The original controller that came with DJI FPV drones was a full-sized controller, meaning it’s big, a bit heavy, and not that portable.
This new controller does everything the original version did, but is a lot smaller and lighter for portability, and is in a great ergonomic game-controller style design that lets you hold it really easily!
Fly More Kit
One of the worst things about flying your FPV drone is running out of batteries! FPV drones have shorter flight times than regular drones, so it takes more batteries to fly for the same amount of time.
Pick up this fly-more kit get two more batteries and another 40 minutes of flight time.
The charger this comes with is also nice, since all you need to do is put the batteries on and it will charge them all up!
Extra Battery
If you already have the fly more kit but want even more flight time, this extra battery for the DJI FPV drone is for you.
This battery is an original DJI FPV drone battery, and will give you about 20 minutes of flight time!
3-in-1 Charging Cable
All of the controllers and the goggle battery for the DJI FPV drone combo use USB-C ports to charge. That’s a lot of cables!
To keep from having cables running everywhere, getting tangled, and making a mess, this cable will charge three USB-C devices at once.
Battery Holder
The only thing I didn’t like about the DJI Headset is the long cable running down to the battery.
When I move my hands forward, they would catch on the cable a lot of the time and rip it out of the goggles.
This battery holder straps to the back of your headset and comes with a short cable to keep everything nice and tidy!
Another benefit of the battery on the back of the headset is that it balances the weight of the goggles on the front.
Motion Controller
I personally don’t use the motion controller for FPV flying, because I feel like I have more control with the actual controller.
The beauty of this controller is how simple it is to use! If you’re having a hard time figuring out how to control your DJI FPV drone, this controller makes flying really intuitive and easy!
It’s also great for letting new people experience the fun of flying a DJI FPV droned because they can pick it up and be flying within a few minutes!
Car Charging Cable
Unless you fly around your house, you’re probably driving somewhere to fly your FPV drone.
It’s really easy to charge up another battery quickly when you’re at your house, but when you’re out and about this car charging cable can get another battery charged up in 50 minutes.
With the DJI FPV fly more kit, if you drive to the park and fly your first battery and then pop it on the charger, it’ll be fully charged by the time you’ve flown the other two and will give you even more flying time without having to purchase an extra battery!
Landing Gear
Everybody knows that water is bad for electronics, and this landing gear will help keep your drone above the wet grass if you’re going for a flight in the early morning or during a beautiful sunset.
If you’re flying over rocks, it will also keep the bottom of your drone protected from getting scratched up, and keep your sensors from getting damaged at all.
Propeller Guard
These nylon propeller guards will help your drone from crashing if you hit a tree branch when flying.
They’re really easy to install, and are a necessary level of protection if you’re planning on taking off around people and help keep those sharp fast-spinning propellers out of harm’s way!
Final Thoughts
Since the DJI FPV drone’s camera and arms are weak and exposed, the camera bumper and the arm braces are two must-have accessories.
My favorite accessory for the DJI FPV drone is the triple charging cable! It keeps my desk nice and organized and is really easy to plug everything in quickly.
Finally, for more flight time pick up a car charging cable, the fly more combo, or an extra battery for more time cruising through the air!
