With how fast drones are being developed, you’ll probably own more than one in the next several years. A good backpack that will protect and hold any drone you throw in it is a great investment that will actually save you a lot of money.
Having a flexible backpack is essential if you own more than one type of drone, or if you want to also carry something like a camera or laptop. Today we’ve found some of the best options for do-it-all bags to suit any budget!
What Type of Bag is the Best?
Not all of the bags we’re going to be talking about will be specifically for drones – in fact, most of them are camera backpacks.
Camera bags are perfect for drones because they need to do many of the same things. Camera bags often have lots of pockets and spaces for electronics, need to be soft inside to protect delicate components, and have a decent protective casing to keep everything safe.
They also need to be comfortable and easy to transport, because that is the whole point of a backpack.
In this article we are going to go through the pros and cons of each bag, so keep reading to find the ideal bag for your droning needs!
LowePro Drone Bags
Loewpro has been making well-thought-out, high-quality bags for over 50 years.
Their line of drone bags are used by thousands of pilots around the world because they are highly functional and built to last. We wanted to cover Lowepro separately from the other backpacks because they are actually designed for drones.
DroneGuard BP 250
The DroneGuard BP 250 is a solid mid-size drone bag. It is designed to hold a DJI Mavic, but the insides can be rearranged to fit almost any DJI drone. You’re not going to get a Matrice or a Phantom in there, but a Mavic, Mavic Mini 2, or a Spark would easily fit.
As well as working with DJI drones, you can expect brands like Autel and Skydio, along with their accessories to fit also. For FPV pilots, this bag would be perfect for your radio, goggles and one or two drones.
The BP 250 has more than enough space for extra batteries and a specific place to put your laptop if you have one. It also features comfortable straps, making it a great option if you have to do a bit of walking to your flying spot.
Capacity: 10.00 litres
Weight: 2.95 lbs
DImensions: 11.42 x 6.69 x 18.50 inches
DroneGuard BP 200
The DroneGuard BP 200 is basically the same bag as the BP 250. The BP 200 is smaller and lacks the place to put a laptop, but is the same style as the BP 250 above. It usually comes in a little cheaper, as well as being smaller and lighter than the BP 250.
Capacity: 6.00 litres
Weight: 2.38 lbs
DImensions: 9.45 x 6.69 x 15.75 inches
Mid Priced Do-it-all Backpacks for Drones: $60-$120 USD
The medium-budget backpacks seem to be the best balance between price and features. You’re not going to get all the features you want like with the high-end bags, but they are more than capable enough to suit most people.
Mosiso Backpack
The Mosiso backpack is a bit of a step down in quality from Lowepro, but for the price you can’t really complain. The Mosiso Camera Backpack fits into our medium budget category, coming in at $63 USD.
So what do you get for your money?
This bag is perfect for carrying small to medium-sized drones. It is made to carry a Mavic, but could easily carry drones like the Mini 2, Spark or the Autel Evo Nano.
There is plenty of room for spare batteries and props, with space to carry a DSLR camera and a couple of lenses. There is a laptop compartment as well.
For a relatively cheap bag, the Mosiso does everything you need. Its semi-hard shell gives you an extra element of protection and is water-resistant. It is available in ten different colors, Army Green, Black, Camel, Deep Teal, Grey, Lavender Grey, Navy Blue, Pink, Royal Blue and Wine Red.
Weight: 3.34 pounds
DImensions: 17.32 x 11.8 x 7.5 inch
Endurax Extra Large Camera Backpack
If you double the price of the Mosiso backpack, you start to get into the high-end range of drone bags. This one is right on the edge, so we are still going to class it as part of the medium budget section.
The Endurax Extra Large Camera Backpack has a lot more quality of life upgrades over the cheaper Mosiso backpack above. The best upgrade is all the extra attention given to storage options.
There are pockets on the outside of the bag to store things like props and batteries. It also comes with an accessory organization pad, which gives you another place for props, tools, and cables. All of the dividers on the inside can be moved around to suit your ideal setup.
The more storage options there are on a backpack, the easier it becomes to set it up just how you need it.
As well as being perfect for a Mavic, Mini 2, Spark or Evo Nano, this Endirax bag will easily fit a DSLR camera and lenses. There is a laptop sleeve to help keep it safe during your travels and a mesh pocket for a tripod or water bottle. Everything is protected by an armored layer of PVA – helping to protect your expensive equipment from a drop or crushing forces.
Coming in at around $120 USD, the Endurax Extra Large Camera Backpack is perfect for people who need to take a lot of gear with them to fly and want it very well protected at the same time.
Weight: 5.85 pounds
Dimensions: 12.5 x 9 x 21 inches
High End Backpacks for Drones: $130+ USD
These backpacks are the best of the best – and it’s a lot better idea to pay for a premium backpack that will be able to be modded over the years to suit all your new drones than to pay a lot for a backpack that will only be able to fit the drone you own right now!
Once you get over $120 USD you start to see higher quality, better design, and more features. Buying a backpack like this should give you peace of mind that you have invested in something that will last you for many years of flying and protection.
Tarion Pro: 2 Bags in 1 Backpack
If you can spend a little more to get yourself into the high-end category, we really like the look and features of the Tarion Backpack. Tarion is a German manufacturer who has been making camera accessories since 2008, and their Tarion Pro line represents the best Tarion has to offer.
The TARION Pro 2 Bags in 1 Camera Backpack is made with space and comfort in mind. There are two separate compartments within the bag, which allows you to split up your gear into easy-to-manage sections.
The inside of the backpack can be changed around to suit your needs. Like the other backpacks we have already shown you, the Tarion Pro 2 in 1 can easily fit small to medium-sized drones like the Mavic, Mini 2, Spark, and Autel Evo Nano. There are lots of different pockets and places to store all your spares and tools, plus a dedicated sleeve for a laptop.
What really sets this backpack apart is the attention to detail of the straps. As well as having ventilated shoulder straps to combat sweating, there is a large waist strap to help take the weight off your back.
There are also adjustable suspension points, which allow the backpack to conform to any sized individual. Short or tall, thin or fat, this bag is designed to be comfortable.
The Tarion bag also comes with a shoulder bag that would be perfect for spare batteries, a DSLR camera, or your lunch! This bag can either be carried outside of the bag with a shoulder strap or inside the bag. If you decide to put it in the backpack you will lose the bottom storage section however. The main benefit here is you free up a lot of space by keeping it outside, allowing you to take more gear on your next flying mission.
Capacity: 18.5 litres
Weight: 7.3 lbs
DImensions: 19.7 x 12.0 x 7.5 inches
PGYTECH OneMo Backpack
If you’re a stylish pilot and want your backpack to look as good as you, the PGYTECH backpack is for you. This is one of the nicest-looking backpacks we have seen! It looks more like a traditional backpack, which is great if you don’t want to advertise the fact that you are carrying thousands of dollars worth of drones around.
As well as looking good, the PGYTECH backpack is also very well thought out. It is perfect for camera and drone gear, but can also be used as a traditional travel backpack. The inside dividers are fully customizable and the backpack has a large volume, so there is plenty of space to work with.
The inside dividers mean that it can carry everything you’d ever need – from small to medium drones like the Mavic, Mini 2, and Autel Evo, as well as a DSLR camera, spares, tools, and a laptop.
The PGYTECH bag even has three dedicated pouches for batteries and labels you can use to show their charge level!
Like the Tarion backpack, you also get a separate pouch with a shoulder strap to allow you to carry more gear outside of the backpack itself.
It is water-resistant and has multipoint shoulder straps to make it comfortable to wear for longer periods. Did we mention it looks good? We assume it is faux leather, but whatever the material is it looks very high-end.
Capacity: 25 litres
Weight: 4.63 lbs
DImensions: 09 x 12 x 09 inches
Shoulder Bag
Capacity: 5 litres
Weight: .88 lbs
DImensions: 11 x 07 x 5 inches
Budget Backpacks for Drones: Under $60 USD
This brings us to the budget section of the article. If you don’t want to spend too much, but still want to protect and carry your gear these backpacks might be perfect for you.
Acuvar BPACK03
The ACUVAR BPACK03 is about as basic as you can get. For around $27 you get a backpack that can carry a small to medium drone like the Mavic, Mini 2, Spark or Autel Evo Nano.
The dividers can still be moved around to suit different drones and there is a small amount of space left over for batteries, props, and tools. You are probably not going to be able to fit much more than that.
There is a useful mesh pocket inside, to help keep things organized and a couple of velcro straps to help secure things inside the backpack. On the outside, there is a tripod mount and mesh pocket for a water bottle.
One bonus feature is that it comes with a pull-out rain cover, to offer some level of protection if you get caught out in the rain. Don’t expect much in the way of protection for your gear though, this backpack is mainly for holding it all.
Weight: 0.85 lbs
Dimensions: 9 x 16 x 5 inches
Budget Mosiso Camera Backpack
Our pick for the best budget drone backpack is another of Mosiso’s backpacks. We covered a Mosiso backpack in the medium budget section, and this budget bag still uses most of the same features.
There are four different color options, Black, Army Green, Grey, and Navy Blue. The backpack itself isn’t huge, with enough room to store a small to medium drone and a bit of room left over for spares and tools.
There is a dedicated mesh pocket on the inside for a small laptop or large tablet and it also uses customizable dividers to allow you to customize your storage options.
It is made from durable polyester but isn’t going to be very shock or waterproof.
This backpack looks great too! Mosiso tries and definitely succeeds in designing backpacks that are functional and fashionable.
If you just need a basic backpack and you don’t have much gear to carry, this is a really solid budget option for drone pilots.
Dimensions: 14.57 x 9.84 x 6.3 inches
Final Thoughts
All our pilots at Easydrone recommend getting one solid backpack that can hold all your different drones and gear. It’s a lot easier and cost-efficient than getting one backpack per drone!
Our pick for the best high-end backpack is the Tarion Pro Backpack, since not only does it have premium features, space, and customizability, it’s designed with style and comfort in mind.
The best mid-priced backpack is the Mosiso Backpack at a respectable $63. This is a great all-around bag, but a little on the small size.
If you’re on a budget, either the Mosiso or the Acuvar backpack would work well, depending on if you prefer storage space or protection and comfort.
Hopefully you’ve found the right backpack to suit your needs and budget!
